Have you ever cleared snow from your driveway only to be blocked in when the plow passes? Here's a diagram on how one should shovel their driveway.
With more snow on the way, here's a reminder that snow emergencies are detailed under City Code 10.96.020 - Parking ban.
No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on designated snow routes or on any other street or alley not designated as a snow route from or during such times as may be proclaimed by the mayor or his designee as a snow emergency. The designated snow route parking ban will remain in effect until such time as all snow, ice and snowdrifts have been removed.

The City of Centerville announces the installation of permanent all-way stop signs at three intersections: S. Main and Garfield, S. Main and Francis, and Drake and Sheridan Streets. These signs replace the temporary school stop signs previously used at these locations.
The decision to install permanent stop signs aims to improve traffic safety and ensure consistent traffic control throughout the year. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution and observe the new traffic patterns.

We are aware of a scam circulating to residents stating that they have a large past due balance on their utility account. These scammers pretend they are with the "Centerville Water Utility Department" and are providing an "official billing notice."
Centerville Municipal Waterworks will only send out utility bills by postal service or email bills from cityhall@centerville-ia.org titled City of Centerville, IA Utility Bill if you have opted in. We DO NOT send late notices by email; those must come by postal service.
When in doubt, always contact City Hall at 641-437-4339 to confirm your bill amount.

The City of Centerville has mailed out Lead Service Line Inventory letters to water customers as part of a requirement from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This is an important step in ensuring the safety and quality of our drinking water.
The letter you receive will indicate one of the following:
1. We believe you have lead service lines,
2. We believe you have galvanized service lines, or
3. We do not currently know the type of service lines you have.
For more information on lead service lines and this initiative, please visit the Iowa DNR's Lead Service Line Inventories page: https://www.iowadnr.gov/Environmental-Protection/Water-Quality/Drinking-Water-Compliance/Lead-Service-Line-Inventories or the below QR code.
